Transparency is at the core of what we do at AI Scout. Here is exactly how we evaluate and rate AI tools.
Our Review Process
Every tool featured on AI Scout goes through the same rigorous evaluation process:
- Hands-on testing — We create a free or trial account and use the tool for its primary use cases, testing core features, limitations, and overall usability.
- Feature analysis — We map out the full feature set and compare it against competitors in the same category.
- Pricing research — We document all pricing tiers, what each includes, and calculate value for different user types (individual, small business, enterprise).
- User feedback — We review verified user feedback from third-party platforms to capture experiences beyond our own testing.
- Scoring — We apply our standardised scoring rubric across six dimensions (see below).
How We Score Tools
Each tool is scored out of 5 across six dimensions:
- Ease of Use — How intuitive is the interface? How steep is the learning curve?
- Features — Does it do what it claims? How comprehensive is the feature set?
- Performance — Quality of outputs, speed, and reliability.
- Value for Money — Is the pricing fair relative to what you get?
- Support — Quality of documentation, customer support, and community.
- Innovation — How differentiated is this tool from alternatives?
The overall score is a weighted average of these six dimensions.
Editorial Independence
Our review scores and recommendations are made entirely by our editorial team. Vendors cannot pay to improve their scores or to be featured. We may earn affiliate commissions from some links (see our Affiliate Disclosure), but these never influence our ratings or editorial content.
Keeping Reviews Up to Date
AI tools evolve quickly. We revisit each review at least every six months, or sooner when a significant product update is released. Each review page shows when it was last updated.
